IT Operations is at the heart of tracekey. Just as the People and Culture Team contributes a certain feel-good factor at tracekey and takes care of all administrative HR activities, IT-Ops ensures that everything runs smoothly in the IT area. Without them, nobody would have a working laptop, there would be no intranet and our servers would not be backed up.
The IT department at tracekey handles numerous tasks relating to the administration, monitoring and integration of our entire IT infrastructure. Together with our IT Security Manager, they therefore bear the main burden when it comes to creating a secure and modern (digital) working environment. We saw this particularly clearly during the coronavirus measures. Suddenly, they had to enable the entire team to work from home. Fortunately, thanks to our IT department and its good organization and preparation, this was possible without any problems.
Support for all teams
They always have their ears on the ground when it comes to establishing new technologies. In doing so, they help to make the work of the various teams easier or to further improve the security of our systems together with IT Security. Whether for Team Smarketing or Customer Success, they are always an important point of contact. For instance, they keep an eye on the hosting of the website for Smarketing. If something goes wrong there, they are on the spot immediately. Need a new tablet? IT finds the right device that meets the requirements. If a program that worked perfectly yesterday no longer functions as it should today, IT-Ops is there to help and provide useful advice in such cases and countless others.
Big responsibility – big projects
The IT department has a huge responsibility in every company. For us, a company that develops software in which every single team member relies on a functioning IT infrastructure, their role is even more important.
In close cooperation with our IT Security Manager, IT Operations works to make our systems and the entire infrastructure secure and to monitor them accordingly. This also includes keeping up to date with the latest technology. Whether it’s dealing with artificial intelligence, upgrading servers with new RAM or setting up sophisticated conference room technology. The IT Ops Team provides a breath of fresh technological air.
One of the most important and largest projects in 2024 was the move to the Microsoft Azure Cloud. A number of hurdles had to be overcome here. This was not just a matter of moving numerous documents, processes, policies, data, Kanban boards etc. It was also essential to set up new workflows that ensure, for example, processes are checked and released in accordance with the rules. Therefore, a new and suitable tool had to be found that would also run smoothly in the cloud environment. A major project that our colleagues mastered alongside their day-to-day business. In addition to the start of a parental leave as a deadline. Thanks to extensive preparation, the other teams hardly noticed the move to the cloud.
Over the past few years, the tracekey IT Operations Team has already successfully implemented many projects that have always helped to make the teams’ work easier. Further, they managed to increase security and adapted to the relevant specifications needed. They are available to us every day via their own IT Help channel and take care of the big and small technical hurdles in our day-to-day work.
